Microsoft Outlook error

For Microsoft Outlook cannot open. and Error in Outlook.pst issues, please follow the steps below to resolve.

Step 1: Finding the scanpst.exe

For Microsoft Windows NT and Microsoft Windows 2000:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\NT
For Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\95

The Inbox Repair Tool installs automatically during Microsoft Outlook 2002 and Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 setup. 
Unlike the Microsoft Office 97 version of the tool, Microsoft Office 2000 does not place the Inbox Repair tool on a menu. 
To use the Inbox Repair tool, locate one of the folders by using Microsoft Windows Explorer, and then double-click the Scanpst.exe file.

The Scanpst.exe file is typically located in one of the following folders:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Mapi\1033\
C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\MSMAPI\1033

The Scanpst.exe file for Outlook 2007 is is typically located in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12

The Scanpst.exe file for Outlook 2010 is is typically located in the following folder:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office14

Step 2: Make sure the to unhide files and folders.

1. Right Click Start.
2. Select Explore
3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. (Press Alt if you dont see it)
4. Select the View Tab.
5. Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
6. Uncheck the Hide extensions for known file types option.
7. Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
8. Click yes to confirm that you really want to do this.
9. Click Apply and Click OK.

Step 3: Open scanpst.exe and find Outlook.pst and or Archive.pst (Note: Make sure All Microsoft Outlooks are closed.)

Windows 7 and Vista

 C:\Users\(USERNAME)\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook or


Windows XP

C:\Documents and Settings\(User Profile)\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst

Note: If you cannot find the Outlook.pst in default folder, You can open the Outlook and Read the error, You will see the path where 
the Outlook.pst is located.

After opening the Outlook.pst in scanpst.exe, Click scan and wait for it to finish. Then click repair.(Note:Repairing looks like something is not happening)

Open the outlook again.
